Food Chain
In the rainforest there are many animals. In which all the animals have to eat. Some animals feed on grass and plants, others feed upon other prey. For example, the sun light is cast down as energy for the grass to grow, then a small deer comes along and feeds on the grass, soon a hungray boa constrictor attacks the deer and swallows it whole, leaving the furocious tiger to pounce on the boa. This reaction is called a food chain.
Food Web
A food web consists of many different food chains all in one. For example, for every plant you have, a different food chain is created. There are many different levels of the food web depending upon the rank of the animal or plant. The sun is usually the energy, the plants are the producers, and the animals are the consumers. Although, there are different levels of a consumer such as: primary consumer, secondary consumer, and a tertiary consumer. Put this all into a diagram and you have made a food web.
Energy Pyramid
An energy pyramid shows the energy flow between organisms and their producers. For example, grasshoppers eat grass, then a lizard eat the grass hopper, the a hawk eats the lizard. Now the hawk has all of the energy all in 1%. If 100% energy is available in the first level than in the last level only 1% is left. Energy is lost due to when organisms feed on their prey and use the energy.
